MORE HARD TIMES
Hard times are over here, and then
Louisa walking home again
Up from the mill outside the town
To watch the fire burning down
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
A brother always on the run
Unrecovered, unaware of what he has done
Too soon omission filled his head
Too late, contrition from a hospital bed
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
A bitter marriage on the mend
No visiting the parents’ sins upon a progeny, and then
Flowers, seed beds, down where she treads
In a little bit of garden there to tend
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
Did she see? Did she see? Did she see, see, see
These things will be
But not for me

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
